Samsung Galaxy Note(N7000) Review For Sri Lanka
Samsung galaxy range is catching the world fast. The newest addition to this range is Samsung Galaxy Note N7000. I am sure this phone/tablet will be a hit in Sri Lanka. Let’s have a look at some of the features and how this special phone can satisfy a wide array of Sri Lankan customers.
To begin with, this phone has lots of things in common with Galaxy S II. But the highlight of Note is its super cool, large, eye catching 5.3 Inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen. It is probably the largest screen on a phone. It certainly isn’t just big. This screen has a super resolution. At 800 x 1280 resolution, you can be sure of sharp and detailed images. Screen is crisp clear and looks just cool.
With a 1.4 GHz processor and running Android 2.3 Gingerbread, device is very responsive and very fast. In addition, Galaxy Note comes with a styles which can be used for taking “Notes”
. How cool is that?
Main camera is an 8MP with autofocus and LED Flash. This camera does produce some good results. Video capturing is sharp. Secondary 2MP front facing camera can be used for video chatting and with some other applications.
This device is ready for 4G LTE networks. As soon as any of Sri Lanka’s service providers go with 4G, you may use this device in 4G mode. But remember there might be differences in 4G networks and if this is one of the main buying points, always get some more details about the compatibility. In addition this device supports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
Galaxy Note supports many media formats including MPEG4 and MP3. It also comes with cool Stereo FM radio. This is truly a plus for any device.
I would call this a hybrid between a tablet like Galaxy Tab and a Phone. For most of the Sri Lankan’s who cannot afford both a tablet and a high end phone, Samsung Galaxy Note may be the way to go. Yes, it is little big in size. But it has its advantages. If I am given the choice between a Galaxy S2 and a Galaxy Note, I will go for the Note. Choice is yours.

Below is a good review of the product. Please note this video is not specifically made for Sri Lanka. Some information in this video may not be relevant for you.

Update: We managed to get some idea about the price of Samsung Galaxy Note in Sri Lanka. When we checked about a week back, it was on sale by agent for about Rs. 85,000

Among the other differences are the increase in processor capabilities, improved battery life, better camera and the Siri the talking assistant are prominent.

Nokia N9 Review For Sri Lanka
Nokia N9 is now available in Sri Lanka. We have seen prices around Rs. 85,000. We believe price will come down in the near future. For the latest price of Nokia N9 and other Nokia phones follow the link.
If you have used any Nokia touch phone, I am sure you would not want to compare it to an iPhone, Samsung or an Xperia. Nokia phones were less appealing especially in this niche. But N9 is the exception.
N9 looks absolutely stunning. It has a beautiful 3.9 Inch screen with a Scratch proofed Gorilla glass display and Anti-glare coating to make it easy to use the phone. 3.9 Inch screen looks much bigger in reality as there are no physical keys available on the device. Device looks a single package with seamless integration of the parts. Colors are absolutely top notch. There is multi touch capability, so now you can use more gestures to interact with your phone. And the touch is very fast and smooth with the AMOLED capacitive touchscreen.
It feels lot better to the touch than many other phones in the market. It is made out of plastic, but to be honest you will not feel N9 a cheap device when you hold it in your hand. It feels like costly. I would call this a minimalistic but elegant design.
When it comes to camera, you get an 8MP Autofocus main camera with duel LED flash. The camera lens is from Carl Zeiss, so you can expect very good image quality. The secondary camera is available for video calling.
Obviously you can connect to HSDAP, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth with your N9. Speed is very good. You can synchronize your emails with your MS Office software. So N9 is geared for business.
Nokia N9 uses MeeGo operating system (v1.2 Harmattan). It is definitely a change from Traditional Nokia’s Symbian platform. Probably we might not see many MeeGo devices after this from Nokia.
All in All, N9 is an excellent device. This device is little expensive in the Sri Lankan market. We have seen payment plan options offered by Dailog though. So if you want to have yours you can for lesser initial cost.
If you are looking to buy a Nokia N9, follow this link.
We found below comprehensive video review. Please note this review is not exclusively for Sri Lanka. So some information might not be relevant for you.

Nokia E72 Review For Sri Lanka
Nokia E72 is a cool executive kind of a phone. Many Sri Lankans loved the earlier model E71 (Read our review of Nokia E71 here). E72 is a upgrade from E71. It has a better camera with 5MP and autofocus. Camera comes with LED flash. There is a secondary camera for video calling.
E72 has a full QWERTY keyboard. And in addition to its 5 way controller key, there is an optical track pad to navigate to your menus etc. Unlike E71, E72 doesn’t come with an IR port. But it has upgraded its HSDPA speeds. E72 has Bluetooth capabilities and Wi-Fi capabilities. Screen size is unchanged at 2.36 Inches. This screen is not big by any means. But this is a business kind of a phone. So there is no need for a big screen, if I may give it logic.
Running on Symbian 60, device is really fast. Again this device comes with software all the business phones will have, like the editor, calendar and email. Nothing to really complaint about there.
This device looks cool and compact. It has a great robust build. It can take few falls without any trouble in my opinion.
When we checked the prices last you can buy a Nokia E72 for about Rs. 37,000 from the agent. To get the latest Nokia Phone Prices In Sri Lanka follow this link.

Nokia E71 Review For Sri Lanka
Nokia E71 is a popular phone among Sri Lankan executives and professionals. It has been some time this model came to the market. But it is still popular for a good reason.
E71 is a “real” business phone from Nokia. To begin with it has the looks necessary to become a business phone. It has the software capabilities like connecting to emails from Microsoft exchange or other web mails platforms. It has a neat and easy to use full QWERTY keyboard. And the device comes with the facility to edit documents.
When it comes to connections Nokia E71 can connect to HSDAP networks, Bluetooth devices, and it has an Infrared port too. So no matter how you want to get connected, E71 can do it for you.
With the facility to play many popular audio and video formats, this device qualifies to be a winner in this area too. In addition there is a stereo FM radio.
Camera is not bad too. The main camera comes with a LED flash. At 3.2 Mega Pixel, this camera can capture good images and videos. There is a front facing camera for video calling too.
At nearly 2.4 Inch, screen may be little too smaller for my liking. But being a business phone, I am not expected to play many games on my device. So screen fits to its purpose.
Last time we checked the price, we could find this model for just over Rs. 35,000 from the agent (for the latest Nokia Phone Prices visit this link). You may find the device little cheaper from other sellers.
If you are looking for Nokia phones including E71 in Sri Lanka visit this link.
Below is a short video review of the device. This review is not custom made for Sri Lankan market. All the details may not be relevant for you.

Micromax X450 Review For Sri Lanka
Micromax gained popularity in Sri Lanka with their huge advertising campaign. This Indian mobile manufacturer has come up with some really interesting mobile phones. Surely X450 is one of them.
Micromax X450 is somewhat popular in Sri Lanka. This is especially due to its built in Bluetooth device. This self-charging Bluetooth device is the main selling point of this model. It is really helpful to have a Bluetooth device paired to your phone in any case. With the new laws, one cannot use their mobile phone while driving in Sri Lanka. So a Bluetooth device built in to the phone can be a real winner in the market.
There are no other fancy stuff attached to this phone. Micromax X450 is not a 3G phone. So you cannot expect to make video calls or to browse web fast. But this device has a built in stereo FM radio and a multi format music player. At 2.4 Inch, screen is big, but cannot be compared to multimedia type phones. But this screen is just enough for day to day use. 2MP camera is not huge by any means. But it is not bad. This device can record video too. Memory can be expanded to 8GB.
But for me, main selling point of this phone is its Bluetooth capability with the built in Bluetooth device. By the time we write this review you can buy a brand new unit of this phone for Rs. 9,990(for the latest price of Micromax Phones in Sri Lanka visit this link). For all the features comes with this device, that is seriously a low price to pay.
If you like features for lower price, yes, Micromax X450 is for you. It looks good. It feels cool. And it is cheap too.
Check for Micromax X450 and other Micromax Phones by following this link.
Check below video review on this phone by NDTV. This is a review done for the Indian market. So some information might not be relevant for you.
